Today's update from the Alaska Mission Team was written by Frank Word.
Our caring mission team branched out to serve brothers and sisters in Willow on Wednesday. Darryll and Bill repaired a picnic table and built a new one; these are used for the summer food program for children of the Willow area. They also cut several cords of firewood that were delivered by Diane, Janie, and Frank. The two recipient families were extremely grateful and helped load and unload all of the firewood. If they had needed to buy firewood, the local cost is $250 per cord.
Pat, Sue, Jeff, and Paul (our 11th man and member of Willow UMC) continued clearing dirt for the new flower beds in front of the church. We hope to have this project completed by Friday afternoon so that the flowers and other plants can be put in place.
Norma continued to work on books for the mobile library that Fran delivers to Caswell Lake, an outlying community, on Thursday.
Sandy helped Fran in the food pantry where 28 families were served today, a smaller number than usual as it is early in the month. We continue to be extremely blessed during our time here.
