Sterchi Lodge Work Weekend

Sterchi Lodge is a special place for our congregation. And next weekend (June 7-9), you can help keep the lodge looking its best by joining the Work Weekend. There are a variety of maintenance duties that you can help with, all while enjoying the amazing views!

And don't worry, it may be called a "work weekend" but there will be plenty of time to enjoy the mountains as well!

For more information about the Work Weekend, please contact Jonathan Cooper at or by phone at 776-3989.

Special Offering for Imagine No Malaria

We hope to see you this Sunday, May 19 as Knoxville District Superintendent Rev. Nathan Malone joins us as our guest preacher. In addition to the message from Rev. Malone, who recently returned from a trip to Sudan,  we will collect a special offering for Imagine No Malaria. Over the last four months, we have raised more than $15,000 which translates to more than 1,500 lives saved as a part this important ministry. Our goal is to save more than 2,600 lives by June. Our youth and children have joined with the UMW to lead the way in our fundraising efforts.

Please prayerfully consider your contribution to Imagine No Malaria. You may place your gift in the offering plate on Sunday or, if you can't be with us, you may donate at any time by visiting the Church Street website. Thank you for your continued support of Imagine No Malaria!

Senior Recognition Sunday

Today at Church Street we celebrated our high school seniors who will soon be graduating and heading for college. Many of the students participated in both services today through scripture readings, the Children's Sermon, songs, meditation time and more. We learned how our congregation has impacted their lives in small ways and in big ways over the years. They shared moments from their choir tours, mission trips and time in youth group. Congratulations to all our graduating seniors and their families. We rejoice in this milestone with you and pray for you as you take the next step in your journey.

VBS Needs Volunteers

Vacation Bible School is always a special time here at Church Street. Right now, we need many more volunteers to make the week a success for our children. There are several ways you can help out. Currently we are in need of more classroom teachers! There are also spots available on the craft team and to help with recreation. VBS runs June 17-20 from 9:15 to noon each day.

Please consider helping out with this ministry. It's a fun way to teach the children of our church about God's love in a unique way. And believe me, those kids teach the adults during VBS just as much as we teach them! To volunteer please call Sue Isbell at 521-0282 or e-mail her at We need you to make VBS happen!

Youth and Children's Choirs Present Evensong

Tonight the Parish Youth and Children's Choirs presented Evensong. An ancient service for the close of the day, Evensong combines the monastic offices of Vespers and Compline and incorporates scriptures, a sung Psalm, canticles and prayers. The Chorister Choir composed the prayers that were used in the service. It was a beautiful evening of worship. We are grateful for our talented young people and for the leadership of Tim Ward and Edie Johnson. Thanks be to God!

Prayer of Thanksgiving (from the close of tonight's service)
We praise and thank you, O God,
For you are without beginning and without end.
Through Christ, You created the whole world;
You made the day for works of light
And the night for the refreshment of our minds and bodies.
Keep us now in Christ; grant us a peaceful evening,
A night free from sin; and bring us at last to eternal life.
Through Christ and in the Holy Spirit,
We offer you all glory, honor, and worship, now and forever. Amen.
