Bishop Lecture Series Coming in March

Join Church Street on March 9-10 for the annual Bishop Lecture Series. Dr. J. Warren Smith from the Duke University Divinity School will present on The Lord's PrayerThe Lord's Prayer is easily the most familiar prayer and likely the most familiar single passage of Scripture among Christians. It is one of the first prayers learned by little children and among the last elements of Christian worship retained by the waning memory of Alzheimer’s patients. In Christian communities where no creed is recited or recognized, there is still the Lord's Prayer. Yet, because it is so well known and can be recited effortlessly, most Christians acknowledge that all too frequently we say it without thinking. This series is an invitation to explore more deeply about what we mean when we pray these familiar words. It is also a guide to help us see the Lord's Prayer as a confession of the New Covenant in Christ that allows us to pray to "our Father."
